RENOVA StroyGroup took part in the 5th International Conference “Sustainable Urban Development” that was held in Miass on October 16 – 18, 2008. Sharing the experience in the sphere of urban planning, a company representative delivered a report “Integrated Urban Development as a Comprehensive Solution for the Modern Cities of Russia”. The report was presented at the panel “Integral Socio-Economic Development of Russian Cities: Problems and Solutions”.
The conference has been taking place in Miass annually since 2003 and has become a platform for elaborating new approaches to the development of cities and towns. In 2008, central tasks with regards to sustainable urban development were identified and categorized, methods of tackling them were put forward. Topics of discussion included state policies in the sphere of sustainable urban development, transformation of the social and economic role of cities, agglomerations, conurbations, regions and subregions in the course of globalization etc.
The conference was attended, among others, by members of the Russian State Duma Committee for Local Self-Government, representatives of Regional Development Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Administration of the Miass City District and members of the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region. Speakers included academicians from the South Ural State University, Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ural State Economic University, South Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Institute of Transit Period Economy.
