15.07.2010 BASF and RENOVA StroyGroup announced Strategic Partnership in Building Energy Efficient Housing.

Yekaterinburg, Russia - July 15, 2010. BASF and RENOVA StroyGroup announced strategic partnership in building energy efficient housing in Yekaterinburg. The partnership agreement was signed by Mr. Golubitsky, President of RENOVA StroyGroup, and Mr. Sergey Andreev, Head of BASF Representation in the Russian Federation and the CIS, in the framework of the Petersburg Dialogue program. RENOVA StroyGroup is building the largest residential development in Europe for 325 thousand people in Akademia City with BASF energy efficient construction materials and technologies.

“BASF is the world leader in products and comprehensive solutions for environmentally sound construction”, said Dr. Jürgen Hambrecht, Chairman of the BASF Board of Executive Directors. “Partnership with RENOVA StroyGroup in Akademia City shows our commitment to continual perfection of energy-saving technologies and climatic safety”. The first building has already been built in Akademia City with an integrated thermal insulation system with Neopor® insulation panels by BASF. The system saves up to 50% of energy as compared to houses without thermal insulation. The consultations of Luwoge (BASF member) will contribute to designing and creating energy-efficient residential structures in Akademia City.

At the agreement signing ceremony Mr. Golubitsky, President of RENOVA StroyGroup, said: “Our company has always used latest scientific and technical innovations in our projects. The agreement will contribute to large-scale introduction of innovative energy-saving and energy-efficiency technologies”.
The Yekaterinburg project approved in 2008 became possible due to regular German-Russian intergovernmental consultations. The joint partnership projects for modernizing the industry should facilitate achieving the goal of the Russian government to reduce domestic energy consumption by 20% by 2020. Yekaterinburg and the adjoining area is the pilot region for introducing the energy-efficient approach to urban development.

BASF develops and offers a full range of products for saving electric energy and other resources and reducing carbon dioxide discharge into the atmosphere. One of the examples is introduction of polystyrol and polyutherane to production of insulation materials for building construction. BASF also offers pigments for roof coating and plastic components reducing sunray absorption and preventing overheating of dark surfaces. Special cement additives to concrete reduce carbon dioxide emission by almost 60%.
